This week I’ve launched my new podcast Speculative Fiction Tales, prepared for the release of Wyvern’s Shadow and Blade of Sorrows, and started writing a new steampunk adventure novel featuring Lord Sidebottom.
This week has been all about juggling projects and getting things ready for some exciting releases.

On top of that, I’ve started work on a new side project—a steampunk adventure novel featuring Lord Sidebottom.
I’ve written several shorts with this character over the years, and I’m excited to finally have a novel concept that I’m really pleased with.
This week, I finished drafting Hunters and shared updates on three April book launches: Forged in Blood, Wyvern’s Shadow, and Blade of Sorrows. Plus, new Guild of Assassins stories coming to Patreon!
This week, I finished the draft of Hunters—a gritty Space Western I’ve really enjoyed working on.
I’m still undecided on what to do with it long-term, but for now, it may stay as a Patreon-only project.
April is shaping up to be huge, with three book launches on the way: 📖 Forged in Blood (Guild of Assassins, book 2) – April 4 🐉 Wyvern’s Shadow (The Ravenglass Throne: Part Two) – April 12 ⚔️ Blade of Sorrows (Guild of Assassins, book 3) – April 17

This week, I finished Dragon Squadron and shift focus to prepping three upcoming book launches: Wyvern’s Shadow, Forged in Blood, and Blade of Sorrows. Time to wrap up open projects!
This week, I wrapped up the draft of Dragon Squadron (RAF Dragon Corps), and I’m thrilled with how it’s turned out.
But with three book launches on the horizon—Wyvern’s Shadow (The Ravenglass Throne: Part Two), Forged in Blood, and Blade of Sorrows—my focus now shifts to prepping those releases.
In this episode, I reflect on the many open projects I’ve got on the go and the importance of staying focused rather than jumping into something new (no matter how tempting!).
It’s time to clear the decks before taking on the next big adventure.
This week has been a bit of a mixed bag. I’ve been working on The Ravenglass Throne and Hunters, but progress has been slow as I’ve been feeling the effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
I realised I forgot to mention some big news in the podcast: I’ve started posting The Ravenglass Throne on Patreon!
The first few chapters are up now, and I’m also sharing Blade of Sorrows (Guild of Assassins Book 3). If you’re a fan of dark fantasy and epic tales, be sure to check them out!
On the reading front, I finished Ringmaster, a book about Vince McMahon, and I’m now diving into The Contrarian, a biography of Peter Thiel. Both are fascinating reads and fantastic sources of inspiration for storytelling.

This week, I reached a new milestone in the writing of “Blade of Sorrows,” the third book in the Guild of Assassins series. I’ve now penned 40,000 words, diving deeper into the intricate plot and complex character dynamics that define this series.

As November rolls in, so does my annual encounter with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). It’s a familiar challenge by now, and understanding what to expect helps me navigate it more effectively. While SAD does pose its difficulties, recognising the symptoms early allows me to adjust my schedule and self-care routines to maintain productivity and well-being.
📖 Starting “Blade of Sorrows”:
In terms of writing, I’ve begun drafting “Blade of Sorrows,” the third book in the Guild of Assassins series. I’m currently 15,000 words in, about 25% through the manuscript. Diving back into this dark, intricate world is exhilarating, and the initial chapters are shaping up to bring more thrilling twists and deep character explorations.
📚 Reading Insights:
My reading this week included “Opus” by Gareth Gore, a deep dive into the enigmatic world of Opus Dei. The book provides an intriguing glimpse into the inner workings and controversies surrounding this Catholic institution. Additionally, I’m about halfway through “The Damnation of Power” from the Horus Heresy series, which continues to expand on the epic saga with intense conflicts and rich, detailed lore.

Despite the challenges posed by SAD, I remain committed to my writing goals and literary explorations. The support and understanding of the writing community also play a crucial role in managing these seasonal hurdles.
