Edits Done, Dragons Revisited & Storytelling Lessons | Author Diary, March 20, 2026

Finished edits on The Prince and the Fool and sent it to my editor. Also revisiting Dragon Squadron, composing music, and sharing storytelling lessons from Dungeon Crawler Carl.

The illness is still hanging around, so it’s been another editing-focused week.

I’ve now finished my edits for The Prince and the Fool and sent it off for a professional edit.

I’ve also been revisiting  Dragon Squadron (RAF Dragon Corps, Book 1), going through the manuscript and tightening things up.

On the creative side, I’ve written a short piece of music to accompany Until the Wyvern Spoke, which was a fun change of pace.

I also share some storytelling lessons from Dungeon Crawler Carl—what’s working, what keeps readers hooked, and what I’m taking into my own writing.

Grab yourself a cuppa—this one’s a bit longer than usual.

Editing Through Man Flu: The Prince and the Fool | Author Diary, March 13, 2026

Still feeling unwell, so I’ve focused on editing The Prince and the Fool (70k so far) ahead of a professional edit. Also reading book six of Dungeon Crawler Carl, which hasn’t hooked me yet.

I’m still feeling under the weather this week, so instead of drafting I’ve been focusing on editing.

I’ve been working through  The Prince and the Fool (Ravenglass Legends, Book 4) to prepare the manuscript for a professional edit next month.

I’m now around 70,000 words into the edit, so if all goes well I should have the manuscript finished early next week.

On the reading front, I’ve moved onto the sixth Dungeon Crawler Carl book. I absolutely loved book five, but so far this one isn’t quite grabbing me in the same way.

👑 Draft Done, Website Rebuild, and Embracing the Nobledark | Author Diary – July 4, 2025 📚🛠️

This week, I finished drafting The Prince and the Fool, rebuilt my book page at joncronshaw.com/books, and fully embraced my rebrand as the King of Nobledark. A productive, intense week!

This week has been a busy and intense one! I’m thrilled to share that I’ve finished the draft of The Prince and the Fool (Ravenglass Legends, Book 4). It’s always a huge relief hitting that final chapter.

On top of that, I’ve been deep in website work—the book page platform I’d been using suddenly stopped working, so I rebuilt everything from scratch. You can now browse my updated book catalogue at joncronshaw.com/books.

I’ve also leaned further into my King of Nobledark rebrand, making sure everything aligns with the tone and themes of my work. It’s been a lot—but worth it.

🐉 Back to Writing, Midpoint Milestone & A Bit of Back Pain | Author Diary – June 6, 2025 📚🦌

After taking last week off, I’m back at the writing desk and making great progress on The Prince and the Fool (Ravenglass Legends, Book 4).

I’ve just hit the mid-point of the book—and the series itself!

I’ll be sharing unedited chapters on Patreon over the next few weeks for those following along early.

This week, I also chat about reading Homecoming by Robin Hobb—a beautifully written book as always—and watching Baby Reindeer on Netflix, a dark but excellent drama that’s definitely stayed with me.

On a less fun note, I’ve been nursing a bad back, which means I’ve had to miss out on seeing one of my favourite bands, James.

Hoping to be back on my feet properly soon!

📚 Short Story Collections Done, Back to Epic Fantasy | Author Diary – May 9, 2025 ✨🐉

This week, I finished compiling four speculative fiction collections—Influenced, Outraged, Cancelled, and Muted. I’m also back writing The Prince and the Fool, and considering an Amazon-only release for The Ravenglass Throne.

This week, I completed work on my four speculative fiction collections: Influenced, Outraged, Cancelled, and Muted. If you’d like a taste, you can grab a free collection at joncronshaw.com/optimised.

I also returned to writing The Prince and the Fool (Ravenglass Legends, Book 4). It feels great to be back in the world of epic fantasy after a detour into short fiction. The story’s gaining momentum again, and I’m excited to see where it leads.

On the publishing front, I’ve received two new covers for The Ravenglass Throne and am considering a pivot to releasing the series exclusively on Amazon—though it will remain Patreon-first for early access.

Thanks for following along!
