As I take a brief pause from writing to recharge, I’ve started reading “Ezzrahdon” by Michael J. Sullivan. It’s proving to be an engaging read, filled with the compelling storytelling and rich character development.

📅 Looking Ahead:

With “Blade of Sorrows” now in draft completion, my focus will soon shift towards the editing process, a critical step in preparing the book for its journey to the readers.

This week’s Author Diary touches on managing seasonal affective disorder while progressing on exciting literary fronts.

🌨️ Managing Seasonal Affective Disorder:

As November rolls in, so does my annual encounter with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). It’s a familiar challenge by now, and understanding what to expect helps me navigate it more effectively. While SAD does pose its difficulties, recognising the symptoms early allows me to adjust my schedule and self-care routines to maintain productivity and well-being.

📖 Starting “Blade of Sorrows”:

In terms of writing, I’ve begun drafting “Blade of Sorrows,” the third book in the Guild of Assassins series. I’m currently 15,000 words in, about 25% through the manuscript. Diving back into this dark, intricate world is exhilarating, and the initial chapters are shaping up to bring more thrilling twists and deep character explorations.

📚 Reading Insights:

My reading this week included “Opus” by Gareth Gore, a deep dive into the enigmatic world of Opus Dei. The book provides an intriguing glimpse into the inner workings and controversies surrounding this Catholic institution. Additionally, I’m about halfway through “The Damnation of Power” from the Horus Heresy series, which continues to expand on the epic saga with intense conflicts and rich, detailed lore.

📅 Looking Ahead:

Despite the challenges posed by SAD, I remain committed to my writing goals and literary explorations. The support and understanding of the writing community also play a crucial role in managing these seasonal hurdles.

📝 Editing “Forged in Blood”:

I’m deep into the editing process for “Forged in Blood,” the second book in the Guild of Assassins series. It’s always a detailed task to refine the narrative, enhance character development, and ensure the plot twists keep readers on the edge of their seats. This stage is crucial for bringing the polished version of the story to life.

📚 Revisiting “Scoundrels”:

After a year, I’ve returned to “Scoundrels,” a prequel to the Dawn of Assassins series. Diving back into this story is like reconnecting with an old friend and rediscovering their secrets. It’s fascinating to explore the backstory that sets the stage for the events and dynamics in the main series.

🎅 Writing “Santa Versus Zombies”:

In a lighter, more whimsical vein, I penned a short story titled “Santa Versus Zombies.” This festive, fun piece provided a great creative outlet, blending the cheer of the holiday season with the thrill of a zombie apocalypse. It was a delightful project that offered a humorous break from my more intense writing.

🚶‍♂️ Completing “Niamh’s Journey”:

 I also wrapped up “Niamh’s Journey,” a side story in the Punks Versus Zombies series. Finishing this narrative provided closure for a thread that added depth and perspective to the main storyline.

📝 Continuing Niamh’s Story:

This week, I’ve been working on Niamh’s story, a side narrative to “Punks Versus Zombies.” Expanding this universe allows us to explore different dimensions and perspectives, enriching the overall saga and providing deeper insights into the characters’ lives.

🗡️ Progress on “Guild of Assassins” Sequel:

Exciting developments in the “Guild of Assassins” series as well! I’ve successfully completed the first two chapters of the sequel and have a draft of the third. The story is shaping up to be thrilling, building on the foundations laid in the earlier book and introducing new twists and challenges.

📘 Book Launch Prep for “The Wolf and the Wyvern“:

We’re on the final countdown to the launch of “The Wolf and the Wyvern,” Ravenglass Legends book 2, set for release on August 29. The anticipation is building, and I’m putting the finishing touches on marketing and distribution to ensure a successful release.
